The Western South Dakota Community Action Agency offers several services addressing a variety of challenges that face the low-income community. We are open Monday to Friday from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
All of our programs serve those with limited incomes, the eligibility ranges up to 200% of poverty depending on the program. We use a case management approach to promote goal setting and forward momentum for the families we serve.
Community Action Programs
LOW INCOME HOME ENERGY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (LIHEAP)
LIHEAP is for low-income households who can't afford to pay their home heating bills. The program offers small grants that only cover a portion of heating bills. The household applying for LIHEAP should pay some portion of the heating bills by itself.
We are constantly adjusting and adapting to the needs of our communities. To stay in contact on what we have going on and ways you could help like donating or volunteering, please sign up for our newsletter.
CARES ACts Programs
South Dakota Housing Development Authority and partner agencies are working to assist South Dakotans who have been impacted by COVID-19 and the related economic crisis by offering financial assistance to help stabilize their housing situation. The funding is provided to South Dakota through the CARES Act.
