Construction Assistant

In this position, you will join a team that transforms homes of low-income households by weatherizing, improving air quality, and making homes safer for aging individuals. It's not just a job; it's a chance to make a positive impact in your community! Major Job Duties include but are not limited to: · Completing work orders as outlined on job specification sheets · Hanging doors, installing windows, adding insulation, grab bars, and more · Staging materials for jobs in our warehouse · Following safety procedures and maintaining a clean and safe work environment for you and your fellow crew members · Attending staff meetings and in-service training sessions · Other duties as assigned Qualifications · Experience in Construction or similar background – experience not necessary to apply · Ability to lift 40lbs, stand/walk for long periods, bending, crouching in small areas · Valid Driver’s license · Willingness to travel 8-hour shifts, Monday through Friday Work Location: In person, working on homes in Rapid City and surrounding communities. Energy Auditor
Interested in helping your community? We're seeking a construction professional to conduct energy audits and educate consumers on energy conservation under a DOE Weatherization Assistance Program. Join an established and growing program with Western South Dakota Community Action to assist low-income households in maintaining warm homes. SPECIFIC DUTIES: - Serves as a representative of the company, displaying professionalism, courtesy, tact, consideration, and discretion in all contact with clients and the public. - Fully understands all program requirements and standards. - Completes Diagnostic Energy audits to program standards in a timely efficient manner. - Completes formal write ups of the home energy audit findings. - Ensures program files are accurate, complete, and in compliance with program requirements. - Reports and deals with any safety concerns. - Obtains a working knowledge of the company's programs and policies. - Becomes proficient in using performance and analytical tools. - Performs inspections and enter data into software. - Analyzes home and heating appliances using appropriate technical tools to perform heat loss calculations, measurements, and full analysis. - Attends trainings on programs and updates. - Educates consumers and clients regarding energy conservation measures. - Maintains confidentiality of all client information - All other duties as assigned. REQUIRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS: - At least 2 years of professional construction experience - BPI Home Performance Auditor Certification (or ability to obtain within 6 months) - High School Diploma or equivalent - Must have insurable and valid driver’s license - Ability to lift at least 50-80 lbs. - People with a criminal record are encouraged to apply. Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a criminal background check and driving record check. 3. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: - Ability to work in a fast-paced and often high-stress environment, as well as the ability to adapt quickly to workload changes. - Ability to deal with inside and outside clientele and vendors in a diplomatic and courteous manner while assuring adherence to the Company’s policies/procedures. - Above average oral, reading, and writing skills to accurately operate a computer, perform necessary documentation and effectively communicate with staff, clients, and colleagues. - Frequent walking, climbing, reaching, sitting, pushing, kneeling.
