Welcome to Western SD Community Action's webpage. We are committed
to providing services to low income people in Bennett, Butte,
Corson, Custer, Dewey, Fall River, Haakon, Harding, Jackson,
Lawrence, Meade, Pennington, Perkins, and Ziebach.
Western South Dakota Community Action, Inc. is
a private, non-profit anti-poverty corporation. The agency was
incorporated in 1965. The activities are administered
currently by a 27-member volunteer Board of Directors.
Volunteers conduct the majority of activities, with the exception of
weatherization. Our board meeting is held every 3rd Wednesday starting at 7:00pm located at the CAP office at 1844 Lombardy Drive, Rapid City
The agency’s purpose is to make a positive
impact upon the causes and effects of poverty. It accomplishes
this by supplying those living in poverty with the tools and
assistance necessary to help themselves overcome these conditions.
This partnership allows individuals to influence their own future.
The Rapid City CAP office gives free clothing,
CAP corner items, commodities, and elderly food boxes.
Commodities are given out
1st week of the month we are open M-F
9:00am-4:00pm
rest of the month M-Th 9:00-4:00pm
CAP Corner, and free clothing is given out M-F
9:00am-4:00pm
Funding is available for past due rent or mortgage, disconnect notices for utilities, homeless assistance for homeless that are cased managed, homeless medical assists with homeless mediciations, Employment Assistance for people who have started or will start a new job within 2 weeks and need help with tools, uniforms, etc. This funding is available in all of our counties until funds are spent.
